Highveld City Upliftment

We need your help
to uplift our
community.

The people who live and work in these five suburbs run Highveld City Upliftment. We clean the roads, plant up the parks, clear the stormwater drains and keep an eye on the place.

Own your street. Change your city.

What this initiative is and why it started, talked through on the 614 podcast by FREE Church, who also run the John Vorster Drive cleanup with us.

Our mission

Lasting change starts at street level

Highveld City Upliftment brings residents, professionals and local experts together on the things a neighbourhood trips over every day: overgrown verges, littered roads, blocked stormwater drains. The same people take the long view on how to rebuild this area.

Keep Our Community Clean, Safe and Functional

Seven areas of work.

We need volunteers for

How you can get involved

Some of it is one Saturday. Some of it is every month.

  1. Road cleaning Help plan and oversee the regular cleaning of our roads and public spaces.
  2. Parks & sidewalks Beautify our sidewalks and parks with plants, stones, and general upkeep.
  3. Grass & stormwater Assist with grass cutting, weed removal, and clearing of stormwater systems.
  4. Campaign monitoring Monitor and promote the Keep Our Community Clean, Safe and Functional campaign.

Communities of practice

  2. Fauna & flora Protect what grows and lives here, and bring back what has gone.
  3. Safety & security Work with the neighbourhood watches on keeping the area safe.
